This Duskfade upgrades page is the spend order for Duskfade: there is no traditional XP level. You find Upgrade Gears in the world and spend them in Tick Town on three trees — Minutero, Zirian, and Cuckoo. Node prices stay TBA. Verified August 16, 2026 · Steam.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| XP / levels | None — no traditional level curve |
| Main currency | Upgrade Gears spent in Tick Town |
| Trees | Minutero · Zirian · Cuckoo |
| Health | Clock Heart Pieces — 3 = 1 pip, not a gear node |
| Looks | Rainbow Ingots (blade) · Palette outfits — not power |
| Hub shop | Traveler sells items and upgrades — Shopaholic is buy-all |
| Other currencies | Coins / rubies / shards appear in coverage — sinks TBA |
| Run length | About 11–16 hours main · ~16 hours toward 100% |
Duskfade upgrades are a hub spend, not a kill-XP bar. You do not ding. You do not pick a class at a level gate. Power exists only after you take Upgrade Gears off the path and spend them in Tick Town. That is the whole loop.
| System people expect | What Duskfade actually does | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Character levels | None | Do not wait for Level 10 |
| Skill points from XP | Upgrade Gears from the world | Collectibles |
| Weapon loot ladder | One blade — Minutero — with tree nodes and skins | Combat |
| Pet leveling | Cuckoo is a companion tree, not a pet RPG | Characters |
| Health upgrades on the tree | Clock Heart Pieces in the world | Collectibles |
| Energy bar growth | Temporal Energy via the gadget / upgrade loop | Abilities |
Third-party “gear wiki” pages that talk like an ARPG loot pool do not match this game. An Upgrade Gear is a spendable cog for the three trees. It is not a named sword with affixes. If a site lists rarity tiers for gears, ignore it.
Coverage and playtests put the trees in Tick Town, not on a field menu mid-biome. Find the gear, finish the room, go home. Exact bench / NPC label stays TBA until this wiki captures the prompt.
Once you are at that bench, the useful question is which of the three trees you are actually looking at.
Playtest coverage splits Duskfade upgrades into three named trees. Node lists, ranks, and prices stay TBA. Use the table as a map of intent, not a shopping receipt.

| Tree | What it upgrades | Buy this for… | Leave for later |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon attributes, special moves, transformation-style specials | A fight you already reach | Skins / Rainbow Ingot looks | |
| Movement, combat survivability, gadgets | Gaps, i-frames, Grapple / Dash payoffs | Flavour nodes that do not open a door | |
| Cuckoo | Support skills | Assist once movement is online | Early hours when you still miss jumps |
| (Not a tree) Health | Clock Heart Pieces in the world | Every pip you walk past | Treating hearts as optional crumbs |
| (Not a tree) Looks | Rainbow Ingots + Palette outfits | After you can clear a 25% gate | Any first-sitting spend |
Attributes, specials, and transformation-style moves sit on this tree. They change how the clock-hand blade swings. They do not add a second weapon. Rainbow Ingots change the paint. Full swing grammar: combat.
Movement, combat, and gadgets share this tree in coverage. That is why a Dash / Grapple / survivability node beats a pretty Minutero special in the first region. Gadget names and Temporal Energy live on abilities.
The Cuckoo tree is assist skills. It is not a pet level, not a hatch, and not a second control scheme. Talk and reunion beats sit on characters. Buy support after you can actually stand on the next ledge.
Knowing the three columns is not the same as knowing the first purchase. That order is the next section.
Early Duskfade upgrades favour the thing that keeps you on the platform. Movement and survival first. Appearance last. This is an intent ranking, not a numbered tier list with fake gold costs.

| If you are stuck on… | Spend gears on | Do not spend on yet |
|---|---|---|
| Gaps you drop into | Zirian movement / Dash / Grapple-related nodes | Minutero skins |
| Dying in inky packs | Zirian survivability, then a Minutero special you already use | Cuckoo flavour assists |
| Boss 25% platform phases | Mobility that clears the new layout | Traveler odds and ends |
| Empty Temporal Energy | Gadget nodes once Blast / Chronoblast exist | Maxing a tree you do not press |
| Wanting a new look | Nothing — Ingots and Palette are not power | Any combat or movement node you still need |
| A 100% shopping list | Story path first; Shopaholic when currency is spare | Emptying the Traveler before Grapple |
This wiki will not invent node prices, rank costs, or a “24 gears to max” quota. Coverage that quotes a live count is a snapshot, not a published table. When a captured menu exists, this page will add numbers. Until then, spend by stuck-point.
If you are dying, grab Clock Heart Pieces on the path before you rage-buy a tree you cannot name. Three pieces make a pip. Max health is its own achievement. Types: collectibles.
The other Tick Town spend is a shop with a name, not a fourth tree.
Matched by build plan, shared topics, and guide progression — not random related links.
The Traveler is the hub merchant for Duskfade. Official trophy copy is blunt: Shopaholic asks you to buy all of the Traveler’s objects and upgrades. That is a shopping list, not a field pile and not a second skill tree.

| What | Confirmed | Stays TBA |
|---|---|---|
| Who | Traveler — Tick Town shop NPC | Stall label, restock rules |
| Sells | Objects and upgrades (trophy copy) | Item names, effects, prices |
| Trophy | Shopaholic / compulsive-buyer copy: buy all of them | Whether stock is missable |
| When to empty | When currency is spare after movement nodes | A recommended gold total |
| Not the same as | The three gear trees; Rainbow Ingots; Palette outfits | Whether some tree nodes are also sold here |
Buying every Traveler object does not mean every Minutero / Zirian / Cuckoo node is done. Treat the shop as its own checklist. Trophy grouping: achievements. One-playthrough timing: platinum.
A full cart before Grapple trades tomorrow’s mobility for today’s trinket. Come back after a chain. Hub geography: locations.
Gears are the confirmed tree fuel. Other shiny currencies in coverage are the messy part.
Writers disagree on coins, rubies, and shards. This Duskfade upgrades page will not pick a winner. Upgrade Gears are the verified tree currency. Everything else stays labelled until a live menu is captured.
| Pickup | What coverage claims | How this wiki treats it |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade Gears | Spend on the three trees | Verified — always take, then spend in Tick Town |
| Clock Heart Pieces | 3 = 1 health pip | Verified survival, not a gear node |
| Coins / rubies | Some writeups say they buy upgrades | TBA — sources disagree; no prices here |
| Star Shards | Overview coverage: used with gears at the Traveler | TBA — not a second XP bar |
| Rainbow Ingots | Minutero appearance; forge / look change | Looks only — collectibles |
| Palette / dye / flasks | Outfits and colour; some 100% titles name flasks | Cosmetic / unconfirmed — not tree fuel |
If a pickup is an Upgrade Gear, take it. If the HUD says coin, ruby, or shard, note it and do not assume a conversion rate. Inventing a 50-coin node is worse than leaving the cell blank.
Rainbow Ingots and Palette outfits will make Zirian prettier. They will not shorten a 25% platform exam. First-hours order: beginner guide.
Knowing what to buy only helps if you actually go home to buy it.
Duskfade wants the Tick Town loop: region → chain boss → hub. Duskfade upgrades only fire when you take that last step. Sitting on a pocket of gears through a 25% gate is the expensive kind of stubborn.
| Moment | Spend? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| After a region, before the chain fight | Yes — movement / survivability | The 25% exam wants the new tool |
| Right after a gadget unlock | Yes — matching tree | Then backtrack the last biome |
| Mid-room with a live pack | No | Trees are a hub spend in coverage |
| First time you see Palette | No | Outfits are not a boss plan |
| Cleaning Shopaholic | When currency is spare | Trophy pass, not a first sitting |
| Before the Clock Tower | Yes — leftover mobility nodes | Do not enter with unspent gears |
A new Dash, Grapple, or gadget node is a door. Walk Tick Town alleys and the previous biome after you buy. Ability doors: abilities. Region order: walkthrough.
Chain fights mix sword quarters with a platform test every 25% HP. Buy the tool that clears the shifted arena. Fight grammar: bosses.
